Dam/Levee Failure -Coordinate with the ODNR, Division of Dam Safety Section, in accordance with ORC Section 1512.062, to periodically inspect and update /reclassify any dam within Mahoning County as a result of a change in circumstances to ensure adequate safety according to the potential for downstream damage. Dam/Levee Failure -Work with Class I dam owners to obtain or develop Emergency Action Plans, to include a detailed assessment of the vulnerability of structures and critical facilities near the hydrological shadow of the dams as well as inundation studies. (28)

Tornadoes -Coordinate with the County Building Inspector to annually assess County building codes to determine possible enhancements for reducing tornado risks that supplement Ohio building code requirements for commercial and apartments with four or more dwellings. (30)
Tornadoes -3 Purchase mobile 35kw generators or (gen-sets) that can be transported to shelters throughout Mahoning Co (31)
Earthquakes -1 Perform an annual reassessment of the vulnerability of county facilities to natural disasters based on past year experience to determine mitigation needs. (13)
Earthquakes -Install sensory systems that immediately shut off the flow of gas throughout the county as soon as earth movements are felt. (33)
Landslide -Coordinate with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mineral Resources Management, Office of Abandon Mine Lands and Reclamation to undertake reclamation projects if subsidence occurs at a specific location. (23)
Drought/Heatwave -Consider developing ordinances to prioritize or control water use and encourage residents to take water-saving measures such as installing low flow shower heads and toilets during new construction. (2)
Drought/Heat Wave -To encourage greater use of shelters by vulnerable populations (elderly) during emergencies, develop pet friendly shelter policies (New)
Wildfire -To reduce the risk of wildfires, organize community cleanup efforts for leaves, branches etc. (New)
