Provide guidance and resources on utility assistance programs.
Evaluate and improve existing stormwater management system (i.e., undersized storm sewers, lack of and undersized culverts).
Conduct studies to identify poor drainage areas.
Maintain ditches along publicly owned rights-of-way, and repair or replace culverts to control flooding.
Continue to identify and study riverbank stabilization opportunities.
Encourage residents in flood-prone areas to purchase flood insurance.
Consider traditional flood mitigation projects such as acquisition and relocation, elevation, etc. of flood-prone properties.
Organize an annual emergency drill to prepare for a disaster involving hazardous materials.
Continue Tier II reporting from covered facilities per SARA Title III.
Update Commodity Flow Study to identify types and volumes of hazardous materials transported through the county via highway, waterway, pipeline, railway & airway.
Disseminate public outreach regarding disposal of household hazardous waste.
Continue to coordinate with greenhouse owners and conduct inspections of greenhouses to identify possible invasive species that could be sold and planted throughout the county.
Increase surveillance efforts to identify what areas of the region invasive insects (i.e., Box Tree Moth) are inhabiting and where they are traveling.
Implement an invasive species education program to include hazards, identification, behavior, and quarantine procedures.
Work with agricultural producers to monitor and minimize nutrient runoff to prevent Algal Blooms.
Increase protection efforts for public infrastructure affected by dead/dying vegetation due to invasive species.
Enforce slide-prone area ordinance to limit fill or dumping.
Enforce drainage control regulations to reduce landslide risk.
Implement Sanitary System Codes limiting the type and location of sanitary systems in slide-prone areas to reduce drainage in those areas.
Provide mitigation guidance to property owners on site stabilization, energy dissipation, and flow control measures.
Install catch-fall nets made of high tensile steel wire mesh in known and potential landslide areas along transportation routes.
Implement debris-flow measures (i.e., stabilization, energy dissipation, flow control measures) to reduce damage in slide-prone areas.
Implement grading and sloping techniques to increase slope stability.
Consider vegetation placement and management plans to increase soil stability.
Place future utilities outside of landslide prone areas to decrease service disruptions.
Disseminate periodic outreach material to all participating jurisdictions providing information on public health emergencies.
Increase opioid prevention and recovery resources (i.e., increase availability of Naloxone and other detox capabilities).
Providing multiple means of disseminating severe weather notifications, (i.e., weather radios, smart phone apps, social media feeds, registration to a mass notification system.
Create a SOG for the timely clearing of storm debris from roadways.
Maintain StormReady certification.
Disseminate public education material on winter weather safety, to include family and traveler emergency preparedness, driver safety, and animal protection.
Encourage critical infrastructure to implement protective measures and target hardening techniques at their facilities.
Coordinate with law enforcement to ensure safety at mass gathering events.
Provide guidance to schools, churches, government agencies, health care facilities, and other critical facilities regarding active assailant threats.
Coordinate with local communities to conduct an assessment of the outdoor warning system.
