Motorcycle Ohio

Course Selection

  • $75.00
  • Requires a valid M1 2-wheel Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC) or M endorsement at the start of the class
  • 16-hour course - 4 hours classroom and 12 hours of riding
  • No experience is required, but rider should be capable of balancing and riding a bicycle.
  • Students are required to provide all of their own proper protective riding gear. A list of suggestions can be seen at https://motorcycle.ohio.gov/information-for-riders/courses-information/riding-gear.
  • Successful completion earns a 60 day BMV skill test waiver for a motorcycle endorsement
  • Motorcycles are provided during the course

  • 8-hour course - 2 hours classroom and 6 hours riding
  • Requires demonstration of basic motorcycle handling skills to continue
  • Students are required to provide all of their own protective riding gear
  • Requires a valid M1 2-wheel Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC) or M endorsement at the start of the class
  • Designed for those over 18 years of age who have been riding with a temporary permit for longer than one year (over 1,000 miles of experience) and for experienced riders returning to riding, with or without a motorcycle endorsement, after several years of not riding
  • Successful completion earns a 60 day BMV skill test waiver for a motorcycle endorsement
  • Motorcycles are provided during the course
  • $75.00 (Passenger allowed, additional $75.00 fee)
  • 7-hour, one day, range-only course (no formal classroom session)
  • Use your own 2-wheeled street legal motorcycle. Student must bring a completed Personal Vehicle Inspection Checklist to your course. *Form will be found in your course confirmation.*
  • Passengers permitted only for riders with a motorcycle license or endorsement
  • Requires a valid M1 2-wheel Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC) or M endorsement at the start of the class
  • Students are required to provide all of their own protective riding gear
  • Students under 18 years of age are required to have a motorcycle license or endorsement to participate
  • Successful completion earns a 60 day BMV skill test waiver for a motorcycle endorsement
  • 3 wheel permits or 3 wheel endorsements are not eligible
  • Students are REQUIRED to provide proof of insurance and vehicle registration to participate in the course

  • To register for this class you need an access code provided by Motorcycle Ohio.
  • All candidates must meet portions of the Ohio Revised Code to enroll.
  • Instructor candidates will learn how to teach the Basic Rider Skills (BRS) to novice students.
  • 90 + hour course spread out over six days.
  • The instructional portion is approximately 90 hours split between classroom and range.
